What is Trimbox?

TRIMBOX is an overvoltage protector designed to prevent the damage that overvoltage peaks may create in mains or electrical devices. There are two main elements in electricity: current and voltage. For current-based problems, circuit breakers are used to protect in electrical systems. It is an amazing fact that even though the factor of current is under control, there is no efficient measure to control voltage.

Trimbox is designed to fit standard circuit breaker panels. Connected parallel to the circuit breaker
outlet, Trimbox can be installed in minutes. Panel equipments such as the residual current relay,
contactor and cutoff switch continue to work without interruption.

How does Trimbox work?

TRIMBOX solves different voltage problems as follows:

1 – Spikes (Sudden overvoltage attacks) : Spikes are sudden overvoltage peaks which happen
in nanoseconds. There are many things that can create overvoltage spikes such as: activation of a
generator, electrical switching, activation of industial machineries or simple electrical failures.

The moment there is a spike in voltage, Trimbox consumes the excess voltage without cutting off the
electricity and with no need for grounding, continuously supplying the right amount of voltage to your
wiring and appliances.

Performing this function in 50 nanoseconds – that is in fifty millionths of a second – Trimbox provides
sure protection to your appliances. Passive circuits that provide grounding or contain contactor type
cutoffs of systems cannot even come close to this level of sensitivity.

2 – Long period overvoltage : In extreme cases of continuous overvoltage, such as transformer
explosions or lightning strikes, TRIMBOX can short-circuit itself However, it still protects your devices
by causing the surge protector to cut off the power.

3 – Wrong Supply:

“Phase-phase” connection insted of “phase-neutral”:

If TRIMBOX is installed with an earth fault breaker or shunt trip to the wiring, TRIMBOX cuts
of the energy by triping the earth fault breaker or circuit breaker which by being equiped with
a shut trip. In this case TRIMBOX eliminates the risk with no internal or system malfunction.

If there is no earth fault breaker or shunt trip installed to the wiring (or if they are not
working), TRIMBOX short circuits and trips the circuit breakers and protects your wiring and
appliances.

4 – Breaking of the neutral line: If TRIMBOX installed with an earth fault breaker or shunt trip
to the wiring, TRIMBOX cuts of the energy by triping the earth fault breaker or circuit breaker which
is equiped with a shut trip. In this case TRIMBOX eliminates the risk with no internal or system
malfunction.

If there is no earth fault breaker or shunt trip installed to the wiring (of if they are not working),
TRIMBOX short circuits and trips the circuit breakers and protects your wiring and appliances.

The special chemical housing, part of the patented TRIMBOX design, protects its components by
cutting off contact with the air. This prevents arc formation and eliminates fire risk.

TRIMBOX trims high voltage peaks over 275 volts for mono phase systems and 420 volts for three
phase systems. (Electrical devices are designed to resist overvoltage peaks up to +55 volts.)
